In With The New...

I've added a couple pieces to my wardrobe this week that I'm really excited about. My lovely cousin gifted me a generous gift card to Charming Charlie...the most amazing accessories store I have ever seen - it took me a minute to pick my jaw up off the ground ;)  Anywho, it was love at first sight with the gold cuff bracelet below. It adds glam to any outfit and I'm super excited to wear it about. The red bow ring was also a gift purchased for me at Charming Charlie. I LOVE rings and red is my color of the moment so this was really appreciated.

While I was Christmas shopping a few weeks ago, I picked up reward certificates from Kohls ($10) and JC Penney ($5). The certificates were only redeemable from the 25th to the 31st, which perfectly coincides with awesome clearance deals post-Christmas.  I picked up a plum sheer button-up blouse with gold sequined collar and cuffs - get this - for $2 out of pocket!!!!! Seriously, nothing is more thrilling than a really good bargain. I also got a pretty good deal on the Liz Claiborne faux fur trim gloves. It has been bone chilling cold here in Texas lately and the winter season has only just begun. A great investment for only $9 out of pocket! Give me a second while I pat myself on the back lol :)

Deck The Halls!

 Merry Belated Christmas!

This 4-day Christmas weekend was AMAZING! Definitely one of the best ever for me and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did!  On Saturday morning, I got an early bird start on shopping for an outfit for a Christmas party later that night. I found a leopard peplum dress at Forever 21, and paired it with a red belt and black and gold cuff bracelet (both from The Limited - thanks again Ellie!), a red Coach bangle bracelet (gift from my mom a few years ago) and my vintage earrings.

Leopard is such a great print to work with because of the neutral color palette.  Red has been my go-to splash of color, and I was really excited to finally incorporate the vintage earrings into an outfit. I'm equally as excited to work this red belt into my wardrobe. I actually wore the belt backwards - the front buckle is gold - so its pretty versatile. They aren't pictured here but I completed my outfit with my black suede wedge heels.

Christmas Cheer via Nikon!

In the Christmas spirit, Love and I took a ride around Pecan Grove to look at the Christmas lights.  I got my Christmas gift early and decided to put it to use. What was my gift, you ask? A CAMERA! I'm super excited about my Nikon S9300. No more grainy pictures...hopefully ;)

Wishing everyone an early Merry Christmas!

Fogo de Chao!

It's that time of year! Christmas parties are left and right...so exciting! Our firm's Christmas luncheon was held at Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian Steakhouse in Houston. It was my first time and definitely won't be my last! For those who haven't been here, it's an all you can eat affair. You start with the salad bar, which is excellent by the way, and when you are ready for the meats you flip your card green side up. It is literally a green light to an awesome variety of meats: filet mignon, sirloin, rib eye, ribs, rack of lamb, chicken, sausage...etc. My goodness, the rack of lamb was AMAZING!!! Mouth-watering is an understatement!  Anywho, the food was exquisite and the experience was unique and entertaining.

P.s...a new camera is on its way so you won't have to endure cell phone pics too much longer ;)

Notice that the card is green side up? :)

To Give & To Receive

Today I received a cute pair of earrings I ordered from Ebay a few weeks ago. Shopping on Ebay is great, and yes, you don't get that instant gratification but who doesn't love receiving a package (gifts to yourself) in the mail? ;)  For less than a dollar I thought these bow and pearl earrings were a great deal.

On a different subject, I've been thinking a lot about what my talents are and what hobbies I should pick up again.  A few years ago I painted a pop art portrait of JIM MORRISON (The Doors) for Love for his Birthday. I couldn't find anything in stores so I figured I'd take the matter into my own hands & paint something.  He loved it, and I admit, as someone who is not blessed with the ability to draw well, I was pretty impressed with myself.  A few months later, I painted a self portrait. I bit off more than I could chew as the piece was very detailed and tedious.  After I finished it, I took a several year hiatus...until last night.  Christmas is around the corner and I decided to memorialize my beautiful sister in a painting and send it to her. The original picture and finished product are below. It took me about two hours and came out beautifully.  I hope she loves it as much as I do.  Operation Paint is officially back on!

Time for me to sign off...Love and I are going to make it a movie night with some chocolate wine.

The Usual Suspects

Black, gold accented jewelry and girly drinks..that pretty much sums it up for me.

My latest weekend hobby has been hitting up estate sales. I didn't know what to expect at first, and I was a little hesitant...I don't care for people watching me like a hawk when I'm shopping but it actually turned out to be a pretty cool experience.  I'm sure most of you know, but for those who don't, you walk into a home and everything - absolutely everything - is priced and available for purchase. Dishes, clothes, jewelry, furniture, perfumes...every inch of the house.  I have a tendency to pick up knick-knacks for the home and jewelry of course (I definitely sterilize all jewelry before I wear it-safety first). At the last estate sale, which was conveniently only blocks from my home, I picked up the vintage necklace below for less than $3. I love chain and pendant necklaces and this cream and gold combo is elegant but still bold. Love it! I wore it yesterday with a belted dress and paired it with a gold accented stone ring. It was a bit chilly so I had my H&M coat on while taking these pictures.

The leopard-print hoop earrings and black/red earrings below were purchased at my first estate sale about a month ago.  They are also vintage pieces.  I've worn the casual hoop earrings several times since then, but have yet to wear the red statement earrings. Sometimes you work jewelry around an outfit and in this case I'm looking for the right outfit to style around these earrings.

On a different note, Love and I go out for dinner just about every Friday. Last week's stop was at Olive Garden, which I'm usually not a fan of.  I had the most delicious martini ever and it's a shame I don't remember its name but it was a mix of Kahlua, Bailey's Irish Cream, Amaretto and Marshmallow liqueur. Apparently most people order it as a dessert. I'm not most people. Can I have another please? ;)

Happy Friday!

Three Times The Charm

By far, my favorite accessory is the cocktail ring.  We constantly use our hands to communicate and interact with people and our environment. What better way to express your personality & style than through a ring that gets waved around a million times a day?! Below are my three favorite pieces of finger candy.

I always get compliments on this Amber-colored ring I scooped it up from H&M last year.

This Jade ring is a recent purchase from Sasha at our local mall. I was looking for a pair of earrings and laid my eyes on this gem. The store's awesome accessories sale sealed the deal! Its hard to see here but the surface has multiple diamond cuts that catch light and reflect nicely. The pictures don't do it any justice but you can see the slightest reflection above.

I've had this ring so long I can't remember where I bought it. It's an ivory stone. Simple but lovely. I probably wear this one most often because of it's neutral tone which is easy to coordinate into most outfits.

A look at all three at once, although I'd never wear more than one on the same hand.

I ran to the local drug store to get my nail polish fix last night - Sally Hansen Hard As Nails in Stonewall. As news broke yesterday of Duchess Kate's pregnancy, I opted for a sophisticated color befitting such an  elegant lady. I don't think I've ever seen her wear nail polish...but if she did, I imagine this would be in her color palette. I love her sophistication and grace. She has definitely inspired some of my wardrobe choices. Anywho, I do love this color!

(p.s. - sorry for the picture quality. A camera is on my wish list!)
