Spring Tri-Color Mani

Good Morning :)

I'm squeezing in a quick post on the Be Good To Yourself mani challenge I entered a few weeks ago. The BGTY contest hosted by Julep required that you use their March colors, demonstrate how you find balance, and to Be Good To Yourself.

I chose to represent how I'm good to myself and how I find balance with a healthy breakfast smoothie that indulges my sweet tooth while providing the vitamins, nutrients and probiotics I need.

I didn't win (boohoo) but it was fun to participate in a challenge.  My readers already know I'm terrible at free-handing a nail design so I had to think of a fool proof but interesting mani using all three March colors (below).

My Smoothie Ingredients:

1 Banana
1/2 Orange
1/2 Cup Strawberries
1/2 Cup of Spinach
1/3 Cup of Greek Yogurt (I like the Fage brand)
1/2 Green Apple
1 Carrot

Nail Files with Shenae

Happy Friday!

I know, I know...it's been a few days since I've posted - a week to be exact :(  Do you ever go through slumps where you just don't feel motivated? That's me right now! What helps you through it?

Today's mani features Shenae by Julep. It is described as a pastel mint green opalescent shimmer.  It was hard for me to capture the shimmer on my nails but you can see it in the bottle shot.  As to the formula, I found it a bit thick and borderline goopy, and therefore took longer to dry. If you have short nails you can get full opacity in 2 coats but it took me 3.

I do think the color is soft and pretty and goes great with gold accents as seen below. I used Glamorous from Fergie's Wet N Wild line and placed the hex glitter where I wanted it with the help of a toothpick. I draw like a twelve year old so hand painting a design is out the window for me. This is as easy as it is cute.   I love the way this turned out!

Best investment of the week:

I went to a community garage sale last weekend and scored some AMAZING deals. I even got a vaccum for $10. But by far my favorite purchase was the earrings below for $1!  Mint is hot this season and I  love that these earrings are simple but chic.  Whats even better is that the earrings perfectly coordinate with this manicure and my favorite ring! The stars have aligned :)

Pitbull @ Houston Rodeo

Ahhhh, I am still SO wired up from the Pitbull concert last night @ the Houston Rodeo!

Yesterday was ridiculously fun, except for the part where it took an hour and fifteen minutes to get back to our car once the concert was over.  Hey, you have to take the good with the bad :)

I literally danced the entire time and this was the motivation I needed to start working out again.

March Maven Box

Happy Friday!  I am so ready for the weekend.

I finally received my March Julep Maven box after what felt like forever.  Instead of my Boho Glam box, I chose the It Girl box. I wasn't too enthused about the hand cream so I skipped it and opted for an extra bottle of polish :)  This month's extra gift is a strawberry-mint lip balm. It is really buttery and smells too tasty - I want to eat it! LOL, just kidding. Really.

The first polish to try was "Teri" and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! It is such a gorgeous punch of coral and the formula was creamy and dreamy. I picked up "Glamorous" by Wet N Wild's Fergie line and layered it over for a glam touch of gold.  This is my favorite look to date.  Simple and cute.

Mani kit: Julep "Teri", Wet N Wild "Glamorous" by Fergie, Julep Freedom Polymer Top Coat, Non-acetone remover pads.

Green With Envy

Good Morning! I'm still trying to shake off this sleepy haze.

After falling in love with Julep, I decided to only buy their polishes from here on out. That only lasted about two weeks! Walgreens had a sale on Sinful Colors nail polishes and my intention was just to stroll by. I spotted a gorgeous green color by the name of Envy, which happened to be the last one in sight, and it is now part of Kali's Kollection Collection (thanks Kardashians, for playing out the "K").

Envy is a hunter green and teal hybrid. I LOVE IT! It is one of my favorites to date and I've received a few compliments on it. I also layered a bit of Nail Junkie over the top half of the nail (non-gradient) for a pop of sparkle. I think these two polishes work really well together and this is definitely one of my favorite looks. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find another bottle of Envy. If I do, I'll share ;)

Maybe She's Born With It, Maybe It's Moroccan Oil!

I've been a little M.I.A but hope to get back into the swing of regular posting.  How dare my personal life get in the way! ;)  I hope things are going as well for my readers as they have been for me.  I'm sending good vibes to each and every one of you in 3...2...1...

A week ago today, I blog swapped with Cayli Sue @ Night Chayde, and shared my newest love - Moroccan Argan Oil. I'm not one to jump on fads, but if it can help de-frizz and condition my curly hair, I'm all for trying!

There has been so much talk about Moroccan Oil and it's wonderful moisturizing effects. The original Moroccan Oil brand is a bit pricey for my budget at $43.00 a bottle, so I did some research for a less expensive but equally nourishing product. Mission accomplished! I found and fell in love with Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil. It can be found at any major retailer (got mine at good ol' walmart) and costs less than $6. I LOVE this! It isn't greasy and has a pleasant smell.

I attended a party this weekend and one of my in-laws complemented that my hair was "Curly. Shiny. Black" - yes, they said it just.like.that.  This is an in-law I see pretty frequently and she has never commented on my hair, so the Moroccan Oil really made an impact. Thank you for noticing that my hair is shiny :)  Score one for Moroccan Oil.  I realize now that I should have snapped a pic. Next time!

Although you are supposed to apply the oil to damp hair, I also tried it out after a blow-dry to tame the frizz. It works just as well.

Seriously - give this a try!
